In the Braveheart Sermon Series, Gideon’s story (Judges 6–8) shows that courage doesn’t start on the battlefield—it starts in the hidden places. When we first meet him, Gideon is afraid, hiding from the Midianites, yet God calls him a “mighty warrior.” Despite his doubts and insecurity, God chooses him and calls him to take his first brave step by tearing down the idol in his own home. This reminds students that real bravery isn’t loud or public at first—it’s quiet obedience when no one else is watching.
As the story unfolds, God reduces Gideon’s army from 32,000 to just 300 so that the victory would clearly point to Him. With nothing but torches, jars, and trumpets, Gideon leads an unlikely victory, proving that God doesn’t need our strength—He wants our trust. The message of the Braveheart Sermon Series is clear: bravery isn’t the absence of fear, it’s choosing to trust God in the middle of it. When students step forward in faith, even when they feel unqualified, God can use their lives in powerful ways.
