Biblical Truth in a Time of Biblical Illiteracy

Israel Bible Study — God’s Covenant, the Land, and the Nations

Many young people today are deeply interested in faith, Scripture, and spiritual questions. Yet at the same time, research shows that biblical understanding is declining rapidly, especially among younger generations.

Recent research from the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University found that only about 4% of American adults consistently live according to a biblical worldview, and the number drops even lower among younger generations.

Even among people who identify as Christians, many hold beliefs that do not align with the teachings of Scripture, revealing a major gap between Christian identity and biblical understanding.

This reality highlights an urgent need: young people need a clear, Scripture-centered understanding of the Bible’s story.

One area where this is especially important is the topic of Israel.

For many teens today, the word Israel is associated mainly with politics, headlines, or social media debates. But in the Bible, Israel is not primarily a political topic—it is central to the story of redemption. From Genesis to Revelation, Israel plays a key role in the unfolding of God’s plan to bring salvation to the world through Jesus.

This 8-session Bible study helps teens and young adults rediscover that story.

What This Series Covers

This study walks students through the entire biblical narrative surrounding Israel, helping them understand how Israel fits into God’s redemptive plan and why it matters for the gospel.

Each lesson combines clear teaching, inductive Bible study, group discussion, and practical application to help students engage Scripture directly and understand what the Bible says for themselves.

In addition, every lesson includes:

  • A 5-Minute Seminary for Leaders — a short background section that equips teachers with historical and theological context so they can confidently guide the discussion.
  • A Gospel Connection — showing how each part of Israel’s story ultimately points to Jesus and God’s plan of redemption.
  • Reflection Questions — helping students process what they’ve learned and apply biblical truth to their lives.
  • 4K Media Graphics, Slides, and Logos — visually engaging tools designed to help students follow the lesson, grasp key ideas, and retain biblical truth.

Together, these elements help students not only learn the story of Israel but also see how that story leads directly to the gospel and shapes a biblical worldview rooted in Scripture.

Lesson 1 — Why Israel Is One of the Most Misunderstood Topics in the Bible

Students explore how Israel’s story begins with God’s covenant with Abraham in Genesis 12. They discover that Israel was chosen not for privilege alone but to become the channel through which God would bless the nations.

Lesson 2 — The Land Promise: Why Geography Matters in the Bible

This lesson explains why the land of Israel is significant in Scripture. Students see that the land was meant to be a place where God’s people would live under His rule and display His character to the world.

Lesson 3 — When Israel Lost the Land

Students examine Israel’s exile and learn how covenant unfaithfulness led to judgment. This lesson reveals the seriousness of sin and prepares the way for the prophets’ promises of restoration.

Lesson 4 — The Prophets and the Promise of Restoration

The prophets begin pointing toward a future hope: a new covenant, a transformed heart, and the coming of the Messiah who will restore God’s people.

Lesson 5 — Jesus and the Fulfillment of Israel’s Story

Students discover how Jesus fulfills the promises made to Abraham, the law, and the prophets. The gospel is shown to be the culmination of Israel’s story.

Lesson 6 — Israel and the Church

This lesson explores Romans 11 and the relationship between Israel and the nations. Students learn how the gospel expands God’s covenant family to include people from every nation through faith in Christ.

Lesson 7 — How Should Christians Think About Israel Today?

Students examine passages such as Romans 11, Zechariah 12, and Ezekiel 36 that speak about God’s ongoing faithfulness and future purposes for Israel.

Lesson 8 — The Future of Israel and the Nations

The study concludes with the vision in Revelation where both the tribes of Israel and people from every nation stand together before God’s throne worshiping the Lamb.

What Students Will Gain

Through this study, students will:

  • Develop a biblical understanding of Israel
  • See how the entire Bible tells one unified story
  • Understand how the gospel grows out of Israel’s story
  • Learn how to study Scripture through inductive Bible study
  • Build a biblical worldview shaped by God’s Word rather than political, cultural narratives

Why The Israel Bible Study Matters

In a time when culture, media, and politics are shaping how young people think about the world, it is more important than ever for students to learn how to interpret life through Scripture.

Israel’s story reveals something deeper than history or politics. It reveals God’s covenant faithfulness and His plan to redeem the world through Jesus Christ.

When teens understand that story, they begin to see the Bible not as disconnected pieces but as one powerful narrative of redemption—from Abraham to Jesus to the nations and ultimately to the future kingdom of God.

This study helps them step into that story and see their place in God’s unfolding plan.
